Choosing Where to Move Abroad

Deciding where to move abroad is one of the most exciting—and overwhelming—steps in your journey to living overseas. We get it because we’ve been there. From the very first spark of curiosity about life in another country to narrowing down which destination feels like “home,” it’s a process filled with questions, dreams, and, let’s face it, a few moments of doubt.

For us, choosing where to live has always been about finding a balance. Over the past 30 years, our family has traveled to dozens of countries, building lifelong connections and creating memories in all kinds of places—whether camping under the stars in remote corners of the world or exploring vibrant cities full of culture and history.

Every trip taught us something new about what we value in a place: community, adventure, opportunity, and the chance to connect with something bigger than ourselves.

In 2022, after years of traveling while based in California, we decided to take the leap into full-time nomadic life, settling in Spain as our hub. This decision wasn’t random—it was based on practical needs (hello, excellent healthcare!), a love for the country’s rich culture, and its amazing location for exploring the rest of Europe.

Choosing where to live abroad is deeply personal, but with the right guidance, it can be a lot less stressful—and even fun!
